Volvo Reveals The Pure Electric C40 Recharge
Auto News

No… Volvo will not be double charging you for buying the C40 Recharge. The Recharge moniker is a reference because you will have to manually recharge the C40’s batteries. Yes, it is a fully electric SUV designed to take on the Audi Q4 e-Tron and BMW iX3. And the design is partially inspired by the XC40 although the rear quarter looks a bit like a generic Vauxhall SUV from 2015. The C40 is powered by a 78kWh battery pack and two electric motors each of which are mounted on the front and rear axel. This yields a total system power of 402bhp and 660Nm (487lb ft) of torque. And it will allow for a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 112mph.

The C40 Recharge has a claimed range of 260 miles, the 150kW fast charging capability will allow for a theoretical charge from 10 to 80 percent in 40 minutes. We don’t know much else at this stage, we do know Volvo will offer over-the-air updates. And we do know the XC40 will not offer any leather trim whatsoever, it’s all recycled material for which Volvo will re-market as premium and charge you a premium.
