They Types of Headlights Available
Whether your current headlights are broken, or you’re just looking for some new ones, there are many different types at your disposal. In general, there are three different types of headlight designs that can be used. They are halogens, LEDs and HIDs. Halogens have been the standard in cars for a while and they heat a filament until it glows and then that mixes with halogen gas. Most stock headlights are halogens and while they work, they are not very efficient.
Next, we have LED headlights. LED stands for light emitting diodes and these lights last longer than halogens, while also not running as hot. They also draw less power to operate but are more expensive. These are a common option for those looking to move on from halogen bulbs to something more durable, efficient and long-lasting.
Lastly, there is the option to use a HID xenon headlight. Instead of heating a filament, these lights use gas. These bulbs are incredibly bright and last a very long time. However, these are incredibly fragile and cannot be handled without gloves. As a result, you may need a professional to help you install them, and they can be quite expensive as well.
How to Choose the Right Headlights For You
Now that you know the types of bulbs that you can use, what are some considerations you should make before deciding which ones to use? You will have to think not only about how the lights look aesthetically, but also how practical they are. First of all, you want to make sure the headlight replacements are bright enough to ensure optimal visibility in areas with no street lights. Of course, going too bright can also be a bit annoying for those driving in front of you.
Next, you want to consider the lifetime of the headlights. If you get low-quality lights, they might need to be replaced frequently, which can be annoying to do if you aren’t experienced at working with cars. You also need to account for the work that goes into switching your lights, as some require assistance and some vehicles have headlights that are much more complicated to replace than others. Lastly, you need to think about the color of the lights. While most headlights on standard vehicles have a yellowish or blue tint, you can also get headlights that are white. White headlights generally help you see signs easier and they are generally safer. However, before you go thinking you’ll install some pink or green lights, know that this isn’t legal.
We hope that this article has been able to help you learn and discover what sort of headlights are the best for your vehicle.
