Auto News
For the first time in its 91 year history, Volvo will be introducing a 3-cylinder engine, just in time for the new XC40 which will be the first recipient of the newly developed in-house designed powertrain. The new 3-cylinder engine will be badged T3 and will initially be offered with a six-speed manual with an optional 8-speed auto arriving next year. Although performance figures have yet to be released Volvo will integrate the new engine into their Twin Engine plug-in hybrid strategy with plans to release hybridized and pure electric powertrains at a later date. Prices for the XC40 T3 will start at £27k with range-topping Inscription models available from £30k,  first customer deliveries are expected in the summer. The XC40 is currently offered with a 250bhp petrol and 190bhp diesel, prices start at £40k and £39k respectively for the First Edition model, the only model variant available at the moment.Volvo-XC40-SUV-Three-Cylinder-Engine-Dailycarblog
