However don’t expect a scintillating top speed, perhaps a maximum of 93mph is sufficient for eco-warriors and hypocritical hippies.
The updated i3 now supports rapid charging, kind of like USB-C for cars, the i3 94Ah can also be charged at home using a standard three-pin plug or by specifying a BMW i Wallbox.
BMW claim that with the new battery charging times range from zero to full in around 3 hours.
In addition BMW have included a Range Extender model variant that delivers an additional maximum output of 38bhp which in turn powers a generator and extends the range by 81 miles.
As soon as the charging level of the lithium ion batteries drops to a certain level, the Range Extender kicks in to keep the charging level constant.
While the interior remains unchanged BMW also offer the usual personalisation options and includes the new Atelier Interior world which features Neutronic cloth in Aragats Grey.
Atelier Interior also includes BMW i Blue highlights on the front seats and black leather steering wheel. Dark Oak wood trim, eucalyptus wood trim is available as an option.
UK punter will be able to get their hands on the updated i3 from July 2016.
