We have featured the 24 Hours of LeMons before. The basic formula of this event is to race a beaten up $500 dollar car for 24 hours somewhere at an organised event in the US of A. You would think that the participants would literally buy a $500 dollar beaten up car and compete.
It’s not that simple. Many of the participants take their beaten up car, that would other wise be worth less than scrap value, and bring it back to racing life.
The 24 Hours of LeMons is what Americans do best, they take a sophisticated motorsport and reconstruct into Americana culture.
For most participants it isn’t about the wining it really is about the taking part. Maybe Lewis Hamilton will bear that in mind next time he goes for a diminishing gap. Hella-sweet.
