Well actually its a design render of how the new McLaren Sports Series could look. McLaren Automotive are not satisfied because the 650s and 675 LT aren’t enough to satisfy the company’s ego to take on the likes of Porsche. They hope the Sports Series will make 911 owners wake up in a cold sweat.  McLaren have been teasing its audiences with a variety of organised ‘spy shots’ of its up and coming Porsche 911 challenger in what will be an entry level ‘Macca’. They have taken to twitter with a campaign entitled #blackswanmoment. Rather you than I say we, what we do know is that all will be finally revealed at next months New York Auto Show when McLaren finally reveal the look and give details of their new performance car. The official spy shots shows a camouflaged test car carrying across the common design language of the 650S. We don’t know if the Sports Series will be a modified 650S with new bumper designs but McLaren have teased an image (above) which shows a side profile design, will it be a new design from the ground up? that’s difficult to say. The main image was a best guess render created by an Australian design student Marc Antar. We also know the new McLaren Sporst Series will uses the same carbon-fiber mono cell that underpins the company’s current range and will feature a V8 powerplant. Whether it will be normally aspirated or a de-tuned version of the twin-turbo V8 is not yet known. At a guess we reckon the Sports Series will feature a normally aspirated V8 with around 480bhp.
