All New Mondeo Ushers In Belated New Era
Auto News
Its no secret that the all new Mondeo is slightly late to arrive on the scene, buts its better late than never especially for keen drivers who may want to take advantage of the new integral rear link suspension. The new front face maybe reminiscent of Aston Martin’s design heritage, don’t expect an Apple vs Samsung style law suit here, Ford used to own Aston so a little bit of inspiration is a good thing, right?. Here at DCB we never copy or are inspired by anything. Ahem. The new Mondeo will also feature must have tech of the moment to draw punters into the showrooms. Adpative LED headlights, SYNC2 voice control and idiot proof automated parking are just a few highlights. Yes, the onboard computer and array of external sensors means trouble free parking. The Mondeo will also come with a 10-inch digital-analogue instrument display and will introduce a higher quality interior. The Mondeo is built around the global CD-segment platform, that new driver friendly suspension we mentioned earlier will deliver greater levels of comfort, provide increased steering input and better ride and handling than ever before. A wider array of powertrains will be available, auto Stop-Start is standard throughout the range and optional AWD joins the model line-up for the first time. The engine range features two diesel engines the 1.5-litre (which replaces the 1.6 in 2015) and 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine which will include a twin-sequential turbocharged 210PS version. The 1.5-litre diesel will include the environmentally friendly 94g/km CO2 ECOnetic derivative. Two petrol engines will be offered, the tiny 1.0-EcoBoost international engine of the year and a new 1.5-litre EcoBoost derivative which offer emissions of 119g/km and 99g/km in CO2 emissions. The petrol range will also include an electric hybrid which offers 187PS, is able to hit 85mph in electric mode and return a claimed 67.3mpg fuel economy whilst emitting 99g/km. Six speed manual gearboxes are standard with the twin-clutch six speed transmission being offered as an option. The new Mondeo is priced from £20k in the UK with first deliveries expected by the end of the year. Hopefully.  Fjord-Mondeo
